1. FY2014-FY2019 SECONDARY ROAD SIX-YEAR PLAN AND THE FY2014 CONSTRUCTION IMPROVEMENT BUDGET PRIORITY LIST

Each year the Board of Supervisors holds a joint public hearing with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on a proposed Secondary Road Six-Year Plan (Plan), which is developed through the combined efforts of County and VDOT staffs. Funding for the Plan is derived from State and Federal fuel taxes, vehicle title fees, vehicle sales taxes and one-half cent of the State’s general sales tax. The funds are then allocated to be used by localities per a formula prescribed in State law, for which the Plan is updated and adopted each year. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow Loudoun citizens an opportunity to review the proposed Plan and offer comments on additions, deletions or changes in priorities. The Board’s role is to determine which projects to include in the Plan as well as to set funding priorities. ** [Due to a deficiency in the legal advertisement, the official public hearing for this item will occur on July 17th at 6:00 p.m., at which time formal input from the public will be taken. However, staff gave its formal presentation of this item to the Board on July 10th, and members of the public were allowed to speak at the July 10th meeting, if present.]
